Dover International Speedway

Dover International Speedway, Dover DEis a 1 mile oval speedway located in Dover, DE. It is home to two NASCAR races annually and is part of an entertainment complex that includes the Dover Downs horse racing track and the Dover Downs Hotel and casino. Opened in 1969 the track is known as “The Monster Mile” due to it’s high banking and concrete racing surface.

The track is known for very fast racing and it’s mascot “Miles the Monster”. Miles is a 46 ft tall fiberglass statue that is designed to be a concrete monster, and is the focal point of The Monster Monument at Victory Plaza – which is a 7.8 acre “FanZone” that features interactive displays for fans, Driver meet and greets and is encircled with over 200 stone plaques featuring the greatest drivers that have competed in Dover.

The current capacity is 140,000, but over the next two years the owners of the track will be replacing all of the seats, which are currently 18″ wide, with 22″ wide seats. This will drop capacity to approximately 113,000.

Directions

From Baltimore, Washington or Richmond via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge:
Take US 50/301 across the bridge. Follow US 301 North to Maryland Route 302 (right turn at mile marker 102). Turn right on Maryland Route 454 at Templeville. Route 454 becomes Route 8 at the Delaware state line. In Dover, turn left on US 13 North. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on the right. Dover is approximately 50 miles from the Bay Bridge.

From South of the Chesapeake Bay via Chesapeake Bay Bridge:

Take I-64 West to Richmond, then I-95 North to the Washington Beltway (I-495 North). Take I-495 North to Route 50/301. Take Route 50/301 East over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Follow US 301 North to Maryland Route 302 (right turn at mile marker 102). Turn right Maryland Route 454 at Templeville. Route 454 becomes Route 8 at the Delaware state line. In Dover, turn left on US 13 North. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on the right. Dover is approximately 50 miles from the Bay Bridge.

From Areas South of the Chesapeake Bay via Bridge-Tunnel:

At Norfolk, cross the Bridge-Tunnel and follow US 13 North all the way to Dover. Dover International Speedway is 2 miles North of downtown on the right. Dover is approximately 170 miles from the Bridge-Tunnel.

From Baltimore or Washington via Interstate 95:

From I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway), take I-95 North 60 miles to Delaware Route 896. Go South on Route 896 approximately 20 miles to Route 1 South to Exit 104 (50 cent toll/exact change only at night). Turn left on US 13 South. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on your left. Dover is approximately 88 miles from Baltimore; approximately 97 miles from Washington, D.C.

From Areas Served by the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
Take the turnpike East to the Valley Forge Exit, then US 202 South. Take I-95 South to I-495 South via Exit 11 towards Port of Wilmington/Baltimore. I-495S becomes I-95S. Merge onto DE 1 South via exit 4A towards Christiana/Mall Road (Portions toll). Follow Route 1 South to Exit 104 (50 cent toll/exact change only at night). Turn left on US 13 South. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on your left. Dover is approximately 75 miles from Center City Philadelphia.

From Philadelphia or Trenton:

Take I-95 South to I-495 South via Exit 11 towards Port of Wilmington/Baltimore. I-495S becomes I-95S. Merge onto DE 1 South via exit 4A towards Christiana/Mall Road (Portions toll). Follow Route 1 South to Exit 104 (50 cent toll/exact change only at night). Turn left on US 13 South. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on your left. Dover is approximately 75 miles from Center City Philadelphia.

From New Jersey and New England:
Take the New Jersey Turnpike South to Delaware Memorial Bridge. Cross the bridge and take US 13 South Exit. Follow US 13/Route 1 South. Take DE Route 1 South to Exit 104 (50 cent toll/exact change only at night). Turn left on US 13 South. Dover International Speedway is approximately 2 miles on your left. Dover is approximately 45 miles from Delaware Memorial Bridge.

Parking

There is ample parking in and around the facility. Parking at the track is $10 on race day and free on Friday and Saturday. Off track parking prices may vary. A park-and-ride shuttle is available from the Blue Hen Corporate Center on US 113 or the Christiana Mall in Christiana, Del. The cost is $15 per person.

Will call is located at the Dover International Speedway Ticket Office, located at the North End of the first floor in the administrative office building. Follow signs. Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Race Week
All pre-paid tickets must be picked up by the person that purchased the tickets by presenting a valid picture ID and the credit card used to complete the purchase at ANY ticket window at Gates 4, 11, 19 and the Gate 4 Ticket Services trailer.

  • This bag may not contain ice
  • The bag can not be larger than 18x18x4 inches
  • One seat cushion, which cannot exceed 18” wide
  • Beer, soda and water
  • Packaged beer must be in a can within a cooler
  • Headsets, scanners, cameras, binoculars, NOT IN A BAG, worn separately around the neck or belt

  • Liquor or wine
  • Strollers
  • Umbrellas
  • Any bag, backpack or container larger than the allowed size; also, no person shall be permitted to enter the grandstands with more than two bags (one cooler or bag, and one clear plastic bag of the types described above)

  • Beverage tubes that exceed 14”
