Rangers Ballpark in Arlington

is located in Arlington, Texas, and is home of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers chose to build a retro-style ballpark, incorporating many features of baseball’s all time classic parks. A roofed home run porch in right field is reminiscent of Tiger Stadium, while the white steel frieze that surrounds the upper deck was copied from the pre-1973 Yankee Stadium. The out-of-town scoreboard (removed in 2009 and replaced with a state-of-the-art videoboard from Daktronics) was built into the left-field wall—a nod to Fenway Park, while the numerous nooks and crannies in the outfield fence are a reminder of Ebbets Field. The arched windows are a reminder of Comiskey Park; however, it has a few distinct features of its own. Several traditional Texas-style stone carvings are visible throughout the park. A four-story office building in center field encloses the park, with a white steel multilevel facade similar to the facade on the roof.

As the ballpark was built on one of the former Arlington Stadium parking lots, the irregular dimensions of the outfield were planned independently, rather than being forced by neighboring structures. The home plate, foul poles, and bleachers were originally at Arlington Stadium.

Greene’s Hill is a sloped section of turf located behind the center field fence at the home field of the ballpark. The Hill serves as a batter’s eye, providing a contrasting background behind the pitchers which enables hitters to more easily see the baseball after the pitcher’s release. Greene’s Hill was originally designed as a picnic area for fans but the Rangers have never initiated this policy. The hill was named after former Arlington mayor, Richard Greene in November 1997. For a couple of years in the 2000s, the Rangers had the “T” from the Texas Rangers logo mowed into the grass, but this is no longer done. In 2010, the Rangers started a tradition where they had four girls run around on Greene’s Hill with giant flags when the Rangers scored, similar to what many football teams do when their teams score.

The field is one of the most notoriously hitter-friendly parks in baseball, due to the high temperatures, relatively short fences, and the design of the stadium which has allowed the area’s high winds to swirl and lift balls that wouldn’t normally make it out.In truth, the park could give up even more home runs if not for the office building in center and the field being 22 feet below street level.

GATES OPEN

First and Third Base Gates open two hours prior to game time for night games and one and one-half hours prior to game time for afternoon games. Home Plate and Center Field Gates at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington open one and one-half hours prior to game time for all games. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to watch batting practice, infield workouts and pre-game ceremonies. Gate openings are subject to change.
General Rules

No Pets, Cans, Glass Bottles, or Alcohol are Permitted.

Coolers not larger than 16″x16″ are permitted;You may bring in Food and Drinks in plastic containers.

Radios and TVs Handheld models as long as they do not interfere with other fans.Camera and Video Equipment okay if handheld, but NO FLASH, TRIPODS, OR VIDEO REPRODUCTION OF GAMES.

Smoking is not allowed in Seating Areas. There are designated areas in the Concourse (The Concourse is the wide aisle along the outer wall of the ballpark.)

ALCOHOL SALES AND NON-ALCOHOL SECTION

Section 335 has been designated as a non-alcohol section at Rangers Ballpark. Sales and consumption of beer are strictly prohibited in this section. Beer sales will be discontinued in all seating areas after the 7th inning and at concession stands after the 8th inning or two and one-half hours subsequent to the start of a single game, whichever occurs first. Sales may also be discontinued earlier, and in specific areas if necessary, at the discretion of Rangers management. Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC) prohibits alcohol being brought into or out of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. In addition, the suite levels and Corner Clubs (enclosed concession areas behind Sections 211 and 241) are licensed for mixed beverage sales. No alcoholic beverages can be brought into or taken out of those spaces. Beer or wine purchased on the Lower, Lexus Club and Upper Levels can move freely between those levels, except into the mixed beverage permitted areas (suite levels, Corner Club behind Section 211 and Corner Club behind Section 241).

ANIMALS

Animals are not permitted into Rangers Ballpark with the exception of service animals trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a guest with a disability.

ELEVATORS

For the convenience of suite patrons and guests with special needs, Rangers Ballpark has several elevators. The elevator for suite patrons is located at Section 25 along the Main Concourse. Guests with special needs may utilize one of the following elevators:

• Upper Level Access – First Base Gate Elevator or Third Base Gate Elevator
• Access to Sections 112-125 – Suite Elevator at Section 25
• Access to Sections 127-139 or 201-245 – Media Elevator at Section 27
• Access to Sections 246-252 – Right Field Elevator at Section 44

ESCALATORS

Escalators are located behind home plate and along the first and third base sides of each concourse. One home plate escalator always runs down. The other home plate escalator runs up until the last out when it begins traveling downward. First and third base escalators run upward until traffic begins to exit Rangers Ballpark when they both turn to the downward position, no earlier than the eighth inning. Upper Level guests are instructed to use the home plate escalators to exit, and Lexus Club Level guests use first and third base escalators.

EXITING AFTER THE GAME

Following the game, guests are asked to exit Rangers Ballpark through designated entrances and exits. During the game, guests are permitted to leave Rangers Ballpark and return provided they present their ticket stub. Guests need to have their tickets scanned by a customer service representative to be allowed re-entry.

GUEST ASSIST

Guests in need of assistance have the ability to use their mobile phone to text “Report” to 78247 to notify ballpark personnel of any issues that need to be addressed. Guests must use the keyword “Report” and send it to the 5-digit number 78247 along with any other information to help assist with the issue. Rangers Ballpark personnel have the ability to respond to the guest inquiry on a real-time basis and dispatch support, security, or medical staff to the guest’s location as needed. This service is only available while the gates are open at Rangers home games. This is intended for Customer Service and is not a means to order food and beverage.

 GUEST RELATIONS OFFICE

Guest Relations is located along the Main Concourse behind home plate. This personal service center operates from the time Rangers Ballpark in Arlington opens until one hour after the end of the game. Here, guests may obtain information and assistance, offer suggestions, and receive help with any problems during their visit. For information, call 817-273-5009. WHEELCHAIR SEATING

Rangers Ballpark contains more than 475 spaces for wheelchairs. These spaces are located within each price level. In addition, Companion Seat spaces have been included to allow guests in wheelchairs to sit with friends or family members (in certain locations, this seating may be on folding chairs obtained from a Customer Service Representative or the Guest Relations office). Rangers Ballpark in Arlington also features access to specially designed restrooms, ticket windows, and concession stands.

RAINOUT POLICY/ RAIN CHECK

If a regulation game is cancelled due to rain or other inclement weather conditions prior to the team’s completion of four and one-half (4 ½) innings of play (“Rainout”), then the guest’s ticket stub is declared the rain check and is exchangeable dollar for dollar on any future game that year, subject to availability. NO CASH REFUND WILL BE ISSUED. Exchanging rain checks can be done at the Ticket Office, or sent by mail to: Ticket Office, 1000 Ballpark Way, Suite 400, Arlington, Texas 76011.
