Rogers Arena, Vancouver BC

Rogers Arena

is a multi purpose arena located in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Opened in 1995, the arena is the home of the Vancouver Canucks and was the used for all of the ice hockey games at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The name of the arena was temporarily changed to Canada Hockey Place during the Olympics due to the IOC’s Rogers Arena, Vancouver BCregulations against corporate naming of it’s events and/or venues.

Rogers Arena was built to replace the Pacific Coliseum as Vancouver’s primary indoor sports arena in part due to the NBA’s expansion into Canada in 1995, when Vancouver and Toronto were granted expansion teams. However, the Vancouver Grizzlies have since been relocated to the FedEx Forum in Memphis TN.
